Brave
Is not being unafraid
But trying even while you tremble with fear;
Sometimes, it looks like standing on a stage,
In other moments, it is journaling in silence.
Brave
Is risking vulnerability
Because it might bless someone;
Sometimes, it looks like sharing a weakness,
In other moments, it is sharing a gift.
Brave
Is confessing your brokenness
Before Him who enfolds you into His love;
Sometimes, it looks like tears poured out,
In other moments, it is hands lifted up.
Brave
Is sharing your story
Because you want to give Him glory,
Sometimes, it sounds like a testimony of victory,
In other moments, it is a tale of endurance.
Brave
Is stepping into the unknown
Your eyes fixed on the One who knows all things;
Sometimes, it looks like taking new territory,
In other moments, it is being still and simply abiding.
Brave
Is standing out, not to be seen
But to show Him off;
Sometimes, it looks like being set apart,
In other moments, it is becoming invisible.
Brave
Is not fearlessness
But faithfulness to stay the course;
Sometimes, it looks like running the race,
In other moments, it is hanging on by a thread.
Brave
Asks questions
Confronts doubt
Cries quietly
Grapples with anxiety
Doesn't quite understand
But always turns back
To the Cross.
